Order & Delivery: This
website is not yet at a stage where you can just click on your
mouse and order your tiara. To be honest, I am not sure
I ever want it to be that way! It is very much my goal to create
a piece especially for each bride that truly matches her look
and her overall vision for her special day. To begin the
ordering process please call or email and we can start discussing
which piece interests you or discuss a custom design. Phone

Once we settle on a design, either from the website or a custom
design, a 50% deposit is required before creation can begin.
During the creation of your tiara, I will continue to touch
base with you about design elements and the completion timetable.
On average, orders will be ready for shipping or delivery
in two to six weeks, depending on the complexity of the design
and the availability of materials. Your tiara will arrive
in a signature Chloe’s Crown hat box.
Ring Bearer Pillows: When
my photographer suggested taking pictures of my tiaras sitting
on a pillow, I bought fabrics and trimmings and before I knew
it, I had made about ten little pillows of great variety. It
didn’t take long to occur to me that these pillows are perfect
for a ring bearer pillows (as well as nice display pillows for
your tiara after the wedding). I don’t have a formal
item listing for these little pillows, but if you see one you
like anywhere on the site - or if you have a vision of the perfect
ring bearer pillow to match your wedding theme - I’d love
to stitch one up for you! Price range - from $30-$100 depending
on fabric and detailing.
Custom Orders:
If you like my work, but didn’t see the “perfect”
piece just for you, I heartily welcome collaboration on a custom
design. You choose which crystals and beads you like and what
shape is best for you. Do you have a particular theme or
symbolic element you would like to incorporate? Is there
a historic figure or painting that inspires your vision? I
will sketch and research for you and we will settle on a design.
During the creation of your tiara, I will continue to touch
base with you about design elements and the completion timetable.
The price for custom design starts at $250.
About
the Designer: After
searching for a unique and specific headpiece for her own wedding
with no success, designer Katie Schmidt Feder called upon her
experience and training in costume design as well as a love for
vintage accessories to create a special tiara of eclectic autumnal
splendor. Soon she was selling her headpieces at Brooklyn
Artists' Gallery and when two sold the first week, Chloe's Crown
had its start. Her pieces are now sold at couture bridal
salons and alongside vintage clothing and antiques.
Katie
now juggles her growing business with new baby boy Max and husband
Michael in their new home outside of New York City.
Chloe's Crown was commissioned in November 2002 by New York's
Metropolitan Opera Guild to design three opera inspired tiaras,
which were sold in the Guild's Lincoln Center Shop. Ms.
Feder's crowns have also been featured in the New York Post,
BRIDE's Magazine, BRIDAL GUIDE and MODERN BRIDE including the
cover of the October/November Issue.
Swarovski crystals along with vintage and contemporary glass
beads are wrapped and connected with gold and silver wire to
create custom designs that reflect special symbolic meanings,
season, style and colors chosen by the bride. Katie approaches
each piece like an individual work of art - like a painting with
wire and beads.
Her eclectic and often asymmetrical crowns and tiaras have been
descried as having movement and grace. She takes
special care to have some crystals that are wired en tremblant
to move and catch the light. Someone once commented
- "You didn't make this piece - you choreographed it!"
Not surprising as Katie has also spent nearly 20 years
as an actress, dancer, choreographer and director.
